WELCOME TO BROOKLYN KIDS RUN


WINTER 2024 /2025 REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN

WELCOME TO OUR WINTER 2024/25 PROGRAM!

(Classes begin on December 2nd)

This is an 10 week program running through  February 19th

(No classes from 12/23-1/1)

*You can sign up for 1 or more classes per week.

 

 Beginner, advanced beginner, intermediate, and advanced level classes are available for students ages 6-14 years old.

 

MONDAY, WEDNESDAY, and FRIDAY CLASSES-

These classes are geared for beginner to intermediate level runners ages 6-13 years old.

Classes meet from 3:45-5:15pm.

 

SATURDAY CLASSES-(Intermediate and Beginner/Advanced Beginner)-

**These classes run year round.

 

Saturday intermediate level class meets from 10:30-12:00pm- This class is geared for experienced runners ages 9-14 years old who can comfortably run 1-3 miles.

 

Saturday beginner/advanced beginner class meets from 12:10-1:30pm- This class is geared for runners ages 6-12 years old. 

TUESDAY SPEEDWORK CLASS-

This class is geared for advanced runners ages 10-14 years old.

We will focus on developing speed and 5k training.

**This class requires a tryout.

Class meets from 4:00-5:15pm

 

In every class we will be practicing a variety of running skills to build strength, speed, and endurance. 

We also include stretching and mobility exercises to improve flexibility and overall fitness.

We will be practicing both road and trail running in Prospect Park.

All classes take place in Prospect Park and are weather permitting.

Please have your child come dressed for outdoor running.

 

At Brooklyn Kids Run we encourage the children to set goals and to reach their fullest potential.

CLASS SCHEDULE- WINTER 2024/25 SESSION

These classes are open to beginner to intermediate level runners ages 6-13 years old.

We will be practicing a variety of running skills to build strength, speed, and endurance.

-TUESDAY SPEED TRAINING CLASS-

This advanced class is geared for experienced runners ages 10-14 years old.

The focus is on speed training and preparing for race season.

Students should be able to run a 5k distance.

A tryout is required to join this class.

Class meets from 4:00-5:15pm.

 

- SATURDAY BEGINNER/ADVANCED BEGINNER LEVEL CLASS - 

This class is open to novice runners ages 6-12 years old.

We will be practicing a variety of running skills to build a strong foundation.

**This class runs year round.

Class meets from 12:10-1:30pm.

 

- SATURDAY INTERMEDIATE LEVEL CLASS -

This class is open to experienced runners ages 9-14 years old.

Students should be able to comfortably run 1-3 miles.

The focus is on building endurance, strength and speed.

**This class runs year round.

Class meets from 10:30-12:00pm.

Meet up/pick up is at the 9th street entrance to the park by the monument.

Please have your child come dressed to run.

A single class is $15.00.
A pack of 10 classes is $135.00

Payment  can be made by cash, check, Venmo or Zelle.

ABOUT ME

I have been a competitive runner for over 30 years and continue to race competitively at all distances from the mile to the marathon. 
I have been an active member of the Prospect Park Track Club for 25 years.
I created this group in 2011 because I wanted to share my love of running with children and inspire them to reach their goals.
I am a certified RRCA running coach and an ACE certified personal trainer. 
I am also CPR certified.
Running has provided so much more than physical benefits in my life. 
There is always the opportunity to challenge yourself and reach new goals.
In addition to developing strength and endurance, running can help develop inner strength, greater self confidence and focus.
I believe these skills can be applied to and enhance other areas of our lives.
I am grateful for the gift of running every day and hope to share that gift with others.

ABOUT US

Brooklyn Kids Run is a USATF certified running team.

I started this running group in 2011 to give Brooklyn kids an opportunity to experience running in a small supportive group environment.

I created a group that was open to all levels of runners, with the only requirement being a desire to run.

My goal has been to create a flexible group that gives children the opportunity to learn the skills of running, while building a solid foundation with a focus on having fun!

In addition to building running skills, confidence and self esteem grow stronger as well.

I encourage the kids to work together as a team, support one another and do their best. Social skills are developed and friendships are created along the way.

Running classes are available for children ages 6-14 years old.

Our classes are small so that each child can get individual attention.

All our running classes take place in Prospect Park. 

We will have team meets throughout the year. These meets are optional and are open to young runners who want to try out competitive running.

 There are no race requirements but there are several races throughout the year that we train for and run, if that is our goal.

Classes are offered year round.

I always have at least one assistant who has a background in running and working with children.

Generally the spring, fall, and winter programs run for 8-10 weeks.

Our classes run throughout the year, weather permitting.
